Woman, 84, critically injured in Fox Chase

An 84-year-old woman was struck while crossing Pine Road at Rhawn Street around 4:30 a.m. Monday.

An 84-year-old woman is in critical condition after being struck by a car in Fox Chase in what is suspected to be a DUI incident early Monday morning.

Police say she was crossing Pine Road at Rhawn Street when she was struck by a silver Chevy Malibu. She was taken to Aria Health Torresdale Hospital. An overturned walker could be seen at the site of the incident.

The driver, 24-year-old Joseph Bradley, pulled over and returned to the scene while police were investigating. According to police, he called 911 after the incident, and believed he had struck a deer. Bradley has been charged with Aggravated Assault while Driving Under the Influence, Aggravated Assault by Motor Vehicle and related offenses.

Neighbors believe the woman was on her daily routine to a nearby Dunkin’ Donuts, which opens at 4 a.m.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident. ••
